NWC VBS Volunteers

August 13th - August 15th, 2018

$0

This year our VBS is August 13-15, from 9:30-12:30 and we are adding a family movie night on August 15th at 6:30 with food and prizes. Our focus will be on art and games/sports. We had a great turn out last year and would love to continue this again in August. To keep this up we need as many volunteers as possible, who enjoy working with children and know the impact of VBS is eternal.

There are several teams you can be apart of, and the teams are all equally important. Choose a team that you feel called to and please be flexible as we may need to move you around to help the needs of the program. If you are not sure where you fit and it all sounds fun, then choose "Champion" and we will fill you in a spot.

If you need any other informaiton please feel free to reach out to our Children's Ministry Team.

***** Change for this year!! Everyone will have a T-shirt for the VBS Event, HOWEVER, if you want to keep your shirt after the event, you will need to purchase it for $8.00. G-Crew does not have to pay for their T-shirts, and will be given one to keep.

Thank you!!!

Kids Weekend is fast approaching and we would love to have our kids involved in running the service! Here's what that will look like:

August 25th/26th we will close Sunday School classes for 1st - 6th grade. Instead of going to class, those students can volunteer to help run the main service and will join their parents for a kid-friendly weekend service.

The three opportunities to serve are:
- greeting guests at the main foyer doors
- passing out bulletins at the auditorium doors
- collecting offering in the auditorium

Sign up today to come serve on Kids Weekend!

School of Worship: KIDS!
"Shout with joy to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His Name! Make His praise glorious!" Psalm 66:1-2
90 Minute / 1x Week Elementary Ages Choir Program for students aged 7 - 12. Teen Helpers aged 13 - 18 are an important part of our program and perform right along with us!
(Select students may arrive a half hour early to work on “pitching practice” per director invitation.)
What if your child could acquire a wealth of musical tools necessary for reading and performing music in an exciting and inspiring setting? School of Worship KIDS! is designed to equip children with the foundational skills required for learning to read music, so that they can immediately begin using their God-given gifts and talents to glorify Him and encourage others.
Within the choir setting, students work towards mastering the following foundational skills in reading music and producing a healthy and pleasant vocal tone:
• memorizing and counting rhythms with the 23 most frequently used rhythms
• singing and memorizing the sound of 12 musical intervals on the staff and keyboard • naming the lines and spaces of the treble clef
• identifying notes that are moving up, down or repeating
• locating time and key signatures in sheet music
• using page, system, and measures to navigate sheet music during rehearsal
• practicing proper “singer breathing” and tone production
• adjusting vowels and consonants to create a beautiful choral blend
• focusing on the director during rehearsals and performances
• how to encourage one another in a choir setting
We recognize that kids are energetic natural learners and we strive to create an environment that draws students into the blessing of mastering facts and immediately using them to read music and perform! Older and experienced helper teens assist our younger singers as they learn to navigate the musical exercises and reading activities. The rehearsal is an up-beat session consisting of a vocal warm-up routine, music facts memory work, practicing reading sheet music and improving tone, and fun games to break things up in the middle of rehearsal.
At the end of the 12-week session, students will perform the music they studied before a variety of audiences including retirement homes and a family & friends concert.
We’d love to answer any questions you have about SOW: KIDS!

Financial Peace University Childcare

September 23rd - December 2nd, 2018

Thank you for signing your child up for the FPU childcare. When you register, be sure to use your child's information, not your own. I know it is not very specific during the registration process.

Also, if your child is older than 10 years old, we will not be able to have childcare for them. We can not have children over 10 yrs old, due to the fact that they are much older than the average child, bigger, and need more space. It is not fair to them.

If you have questions, please let me know.

If you find other means to care for your child, please also let us know ahead of time, each week so that we can prepare our teachers and let them know.

You can send me a text if you will not make it at (253) 830-4056.
